The Drew H. Peterson law Firm is a family law firm
located in Anchorage, Alaska. Our emphasis is on uncontested and simple
divorces, divorce and family mediation, helping people represent
themselves in court (unbundled legal services), simple probates,
information and referral services, and representing small family-owned
businesses. We pride ourselves on reasonable fees and quality
representation of our clients. Drew H. Peterson and the rest of the staff of our law firm have always enjoyed advising people over the phone as to their initial options in family law matters. We will often spend a substantial amount of time during such initial telephone consultations discussing various possible approaches to the particular legal and practical issues raised. We believe that doing so provides a real and needed service to family members who are often overwhelmed by the breakup of a relationship or other serious legal issues. We particularly believe that such initial advice is important when there are children involved, who are the all too often forgotten victims of family legal disputes. It is often true that such initial telephone consultations may be the most important contact that a person may have with an attorney. Indeed a brief conversation and understanding of your legal rights and responsibilities may help you avoid a protracted court battle or point you to a more peaceful and appropriate solution to you problem, to the benefit of you and your entire family. You may be pointed to a easier and less expensive option for resolving your problem than that previously contemplated. You may even be able to proceed on your own and without an attorney except for occasional brief advice, when appropriate. Law firms are paid for the quantity and quality of the time they provide, and in such consultations we often provided very high quality initial advice and information. While we are more than happy to provide such telephone consultations, we do expect that they will be adequately compensated when they provide useful and valuable information. The fee charged will depend on the particular case and information provided, and will never exceed our normal rates for services provided. Payment on the honor system. To be perfectly honest, we are not going to bill you for such telephone consultations nor take any other action should you fail to pay. Nor do we expect you to pay for such a telephone consultation if your do not believe that the information provided was valuable to you. Payment will be voluntary, in effect on the honor system. Finally we would request that if payment is a hardship that you bring such fact to our attention and we will be happy to defer, reduce or waive our charge in appropriate cases. Payments can be made either by mail, or over the phone by debit or credit card. |
